Human Flight, Naturally
Soaring through the beautiful Albertan skies can be an incredible experience. Join one of our pilots in a two-seater glider for a smooth and exhilarating flight among the clouds.
Soaring is the most affordable and fun way to learn to fly! Our instructors are all volunteers and our club environment fosters learning in the air and on the ground.
All soaring pilots are welcome to join. Members have access to our fleet of gliders that includes training aircraft through high performance, cross-country capable gliders.
It's more than just flying. It's the art of harnessing the power of nature to soar effortlessly through the sky. Experience the tranquility of un-powered flight, the thrill of catching thermal currents, and the satisfaction of mastering a truly unique skill.
At the start of every flight, gliders are towed into the air via a rope attached to a tow plane. After achieving a few thousand feet in altitude behind the tow plane, the glider releases the rope and stays aloft by using "thermals" or other weather patterns. You're the pilot of an aircraft with no engine, using your skills and the weather to stay in the air.
A single soaring flight can range from just 15 minutes to 5 hours or more, depending on the skill of the pilot and weather conditions.
